frágil is a study in delicate textures, resonance, and linear development.
une for solo percussion and live electronics, 2006-08
Duration: 8’00”
Score | Recording: Eric Derr, percussion.
une, inspired by Wassily Kandinsky's Composition VIII, refers to the process of unification. The performer serves as a
mediator among a collection of independent forces that, through time, coalesce into larger groupings. At the most basic
structural level this is achieved through the expansion of time and timbrally by eliciting resonant qualities from particular
instruments (resonance as a blurring device). une also denotes my first attempt at using spatial elements in composition
and continues my interest in the extension of acoustic instruments through technological means. In this work, the performer
triggers live spatialization cues and/or prerecorded material.
